Methods of Conflict Resolution - 558 Words

1. Process of conflict resolution for supervisors Conflict resolution is a process bringing about constructive change between or within the parties in conflict. The process usually involves four major steps. The first step is to establish the cause of the conflict. This involves gathering as many information as possible about the cause of the conflict, which will assist in finding the solution to the conflict. The more information collected, the easier the conflict can be resolved. The next step is to think outside the box in regard to the problem or to look beyond the incident. This involves establishing the origin of the conflict, it could be a small issue that happened years before, but the stress level has developed to the point where the parties involved have begun to attack one another individually rather than dealing with the real issue. The third step request solutions from the parties involved in the conflict. This is done by asking each of the parties to suggest how the situation can be changed, then identifying the most suitable course of action. The last step is to let the parties to agree on the course of action and time frames to end the conflict. 2. Components of problem solving (the SARA model) There are four key components of SARA model of problem solving. These include scanning, analysis, response, and assessment (Miller, Hess, Orthmann, 2010).
